The star has given the entirety of his £25,000 honor winnings to the MVT, which works to preserve the Britain's grassroots concert spaces.

He was awarded the award on 16 October as his latest record the album was named the top album of the last 12 months.

He has chosen to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in acknowledgment of the crucial part local spots fulfilled in his beginning days.

"I personally would not have achieved my current career if it weren't for all the performances I did around the region, and elsewhere, when I was beginning," stated Sam Fender. "These spaces are iconic, but they are facing challenges."

From early 2023 onward, over 150 of these spaces have permanently closed – about one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.

Over the past year, major artists such as Pulp, the group Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the trust in its initiatives to help venues survive, by applying a modest fee to their ticket prices, which benefits smaller concert halls.

Sam Fender also participated, generating in excess of £100,000 on his recent tour to support numerous local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The donation assisted locations that were dealing with imminent closure due to challenges stemming from flooding, blazes and family tragedies, as well as licensing issues, legal disputes and noise complaints.

Some locations received funding support in upgrading amenities and technical equipment that positively impacted artists and fans.

"The notion that funds from shows in major spaces backs the smaller venues, where it all starts for musicians like me, is just logical," Fender has stated.

The musician is among several artists to donate his honor funds to good deeds.

In the band earned the trophy in 1996 for their album their work, frontman Cocker stated that the band would donate their cash to the charity the charity.

During 2002, artist Ms Dynamite shared her bounty between several organizations, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"Additionally, I gave a grand to my local community centre, to their classes, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they needed better apparatus," the artist explained to outlets.

In recent years, the band contributed their winnings to the local youth club that nurtured their band, as well as other independent music bodies.

Additionally the 1994 recipients M People contributed their award to a multiple sclerosis charity after a close contact was identified with the condition.

"Winning was quite enough," remarked vocalist the singer. "The cash was the cherry on top but we didn't need the bonus, because we had the honor. So our success affected somebody else's life."

Last week, the Music Venues Trust announced it had saved two local spots in that region, by placing them under local control.

The first in that area and the other in that location were purchased under the public acquisition initiative, which is supported by the arts council and music fans who buy "shares" in the venues.
